City advises of water supply disruption in Bloekombos and Wallacedene

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting critical maintenance at its Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant near Franschhoek.  The plant will be required to be temporarily shut down to enable the work to be done safely on Thursday, 26 November 2020 from 00:30 until 00:00 on Friday, 27 November 2020.

The work involves the servicing of its turbines and is expected to take 48 hours to complete.

This will disrupt the water supply to parts of the Drakenstein and Stellenbosch Municipalities and they have been informed accordingly.

The northern areas of Bloekoembos and Wallacedene will also be affected by the temporary shutdown and will result in these areas receiving water at lower than usual water pressure.

Residents are kindly requested to minimise their water consumption while work is in progress. 

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it enhances its water supply infrastructure to benefit residents in these areas.
